Yup, I had my baby boy! It seemed like he would never come and now that he is here I can't believe it! It's been such a long road to get to this point... It's hard to believe that I went two months without even knowing that I was pregnant. For starters, we found out that we were expecting on "Black Friday" and took about a month to ourselves to enjoy Our little Secret. We went to the doctors on December 10th for a confirmation appointment and again on the 17th for our first appointment. We were told that our due date was June 23rd. The next day we went to Fetal Photos and they measured him and came back with a due date of July 16th. We got extra copies made of one of the pictures that we recieved and on Christmas we used them to inform everyone that we were expecting.
We were married a few days later on December 28th. After that everything sort of blurrs together. It seemed like one bad appointment after another. The doctor was convinced that the original due date was the date to go by until almost March. At which time I had two ultrasounds where they measured him and came back with July 17th. At the end of my pregnancy they sent me back to get another ultrasound because of some issues and the doctor discovered that I was full term (based off of evidence via placenta), but that my boy was still measuring to be due July 17th, which meant that he was small! They decided that although they could tell that I was already full term, they would wait to induce! He needed the extra time to grow so I would have to wait the month and a half until July 17th before an inducment would be allowed. Of course this was assuming two things: First, my WEEKLY nonstress fetal tests (to see that the placenta is still working, he's growing, and that he's healthy) must ALL go VERY well, along with my maintaining good health; And second, that I don't go into labor naturally on my own before hand. Of course the tests came back well enough week after week and remarkably my blood pressure came back fine every week too and I did NOT go into labor on my own.
Looking back at my entire pregnancy, I was miserable. I was sick the entire time and had a ton of problems. By the end of the pregnancy I cried before every doctors appointment because they never went well. Suddenly it was all going to be over though because on July 18th they induced me. We went to the hospital at 9AM to be sent home because 4 women showed up before I got there and they were already in labor. We left and went to Jim's then went to his grandparents house. He watched Transformers 2 while I took a 2 hour nap (good thing to since I only recieved 2.5 hoursof sleep the night before) and when I woke up they called us back to the hospital! Labor was long and had it's own issues (like a migraine that hit out of no where that left me completly disoriented until they gave me some medication to relieve it, And an epidural that "didn't work accordingly" and it took an hour for the doctor to get to the hospital!) but it gave my husband and I the time to be alone that we had wanted. We requested that our family not come to the hospital until Aeden's arrival and it worked out perfectly. We talked and watched tv and movies that we rented. Brittan took a nap as well. I can'ttell you how nice it was for usto spend that time together (just the two of us... after all, our life was about to change completly and "we" was about to be 3 of us).
Well, after 12 hours of labor I was about to be a mom. Clearly I was in a ton of pain, Brittan was watching me like he was helpless because he couldn't do anything to help me. Next thing I know, Aeden's heart rate is coming and going from the monitor... there's now a ton of nurses standing by to see my little one. Of course I'll spare you a ton of details, which I already have. Once Aeden arrived it's alittle of a blur again. Brittan cut the umbilical cord and the nurses took him. I asked Brittan to go with. Aeden was crying and I watched Brittan watch our son from across the room.
4:10 AM I am a mom. My son is healthy and beautiful. As I look at my husband I realize that it seems like he's always been missing something... our son,and now that he's holding Aeden he looks perfect!

Teen Pregnancy
I'm pretty sick of all of the Teen Mom / 16 & Pregnant bashing. What gives? Everyone wants to blame the show and say that teens are getting pregnant on purpose now! From the psychology side of teenagers getting pregnant on purpose I understand that they have reasons (like wanting to be loved, or thinking that that will solidify a relationship: Not that this reasoning actually makes any sense)... But the facts about Teen Mom is that teen pregnancy has gone down 6% since the show aired. Teenagers are going to have sex and Teen mom/ 16 & Pregnant are some of the very few things that are shinning a light on that, educating about birth control and showing other teenagers how NOT glamorous teen pregnancy is. Everyone wants to bash the show but the truth is... What are any of THOSE people doing about it? Teen pregnancy has basically became an epidemic in our country... and that started long before the show started. I don't see how critics can blame the show for an issue that started before the show and that has been statistically proven to have decreased since the show began.
Top 5 gift ideas for Pregnant Women
A guy friend of mine asked me a question a while ago that really got me thinking. The question was not a complicated question or one that was even hard for me to answer, but him being surprised by my answer made me wonder what goes through the minds of some men.
He asked me (as a pregnant woman) what would be the top 5 gift ideas for his girlfriend (who was pregnant at the time). He wanted to get her something while everyone else was buying things for the baby! Smart man!
Well here it goes:
Maternity Massage
Pedicure
Three Lollies Preggie Pop Drops
Clothes that fit, are comfortable, and look good!
Jewelry
My friend was very surprised by my answer... which was surprising to me! He had no idea that there was such a thing as 'maternity' massage. He didn't realize that a woman who doesn't regularly get pedicures would suddenly want them while pregnant. He didn't know about Preggie Pops (which wasn't too surprising), but he was surprised when I said that they were delicious, really helped with morning sickness, and would even be helpful during delivery. I had to explain that as we get larger we want clothes that are comfortable more than ever... but want to look good in them too, More than ever. Being surprised with a trip to go get an out fit can be very rewarding. And Finally: Jewelry! I couldn't believe that he was perplexed by this! Being pregnant takes a toll on a woman and being given something beautiful and shiny is a VERY wonderful thing.
Men often don't realize the toll physically and mentally that pregnancy can take. It's generally a very happy time, or at least it is supposed to be, But it can be SO stressful as well. There are so many things to consider and prepare for. Your body is changing rapidly. You don't feel like yourself. You're suddenly being put in a whole bunch of new situations that when mixed with hormones can seem like the worst thing to ever happen (like a stranger asking if you're going to breast feed, a child pointing and yelling that your belly moves, or an old lady putting her hand on your belly as she asks how you're feeling today as if you were a psychiatric patient). Our bodies and their contents suddenly take top priority with EVERYONE! And we're suddenly treated as if we are barely human. It can be a very emotional time and we need a lot of extra support and pampering. Gifts that mean something to a pregnant woman and are for her can be surprisingly important! At the least... these gifts can be a reminder to a woman that she is indeed a woman, or at least a person and not just an incubator!
Although the list above was my specific list other men might find this list a little more helpful if I explain what it breaks down to in general.
>Pampering (gifts at all qualify but extra pampering points goes to massage and pedicure type things since our bodies HURT, and we're large.)
>Food! (We have cravings that can almost seem like life or death! Meeting these cravings can feel like the best thing to ever happen to our taste buds. Not to mention that things that help us not feel like throwing up all over are equally as wonderful)
>Something Special (an outfit, jewelry, that blanket that we've been eying, something that means something coming from you are all things that are very important. There may even be some items that we've been wanting that we're afraid to ask for so look for hints)
>Comfort (Pillows, blankets, bath stuff, slippers, anything that we can snuggle with!)
Gifts don't need to be expensive to have a very special effect on a pregnant woman. My husband brought me home chocolate covered strawberries one day when I had had a long day at work. They were THE BEST chocolate covered strawberries that I've ever had in my life and they meant more that he realized that they would.

Free Baby Carrier from Seven Sling
I know, I know... you're thinking "Free" what's the catch, right? Well here it is... All you have to do is pay shipping and handling. I know, I probably should have spent more time trying to sell you on it before I told you what the catch was but why waste the time? The point is that you can go to the website that I provided and pick out a sling (or something else), type in the promo code(which will deduct $48 from your purchase), and then just pay the shipping and handling (or remaining cost if you spent more).
Go to the Seven Slings website, click on "Shop Now" and select any baby carrier you would like (be sure to go to their sizing page so you can get the right size carrier for you). Once you have selected your size, you will automatically be directed to the "shopping bag" where you can enter the promo code "FAMILY2011".
You can do this multiple times if you close out the window in between purchases.
Also, Just so that you know... I know that it works because I have used the promo code before, paid shipping and handling and received my Seven Sling Baby Carrier. I hope that this is useful to someone :) Remember, if you don't have a use for one you can always consider getting one for a family member or friend as a shower gift.
Enjoy.

Just a little word to the wise…
Being an incubator does not in ANY way make MY stomach (or its contents) public property. My husband and I made a baby (and we did it all on our own). Now that baby is taking up a temporary residence in my stomach (where I am housing it on my own). This being said, anyone who is not me or my husband does NOT have the right to touch my stomach at any time just because THEY feel like it!
If anyone wants to touch another woman’s pregnant belly: They should ask. Although my answer will always be no, lots of other women are more than thrilled to share!
Well I tried to keep this one short and sweet... Seems like I only accomplished one of those.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Do you believe that it is up to a pregnant women to decide if, when or who touches her belly?
OR Do you believe that all pregnant women should just accept it happily because there's a baby in there?

Restaurants - Wing Nutz, Lehi UT
Basically from time to time I will share my opinion on places that I go. Today I'm sharing my opinion on the Wingnutz in Lehi (Saratoga Springs) UT.
My husband works out of town a LOT and at the end of 2010 he worked in St. George Utah for a few months. When him and the boys that he works with are working out of town they go out to eat a LOT. While he was in St. George they went to Wingnutz and decided that they loved it! They went at least once a week but usually about 3. Anyways, my husband LOVES the place!
My husband is in town right now and we heard that a Wingnutz opened up in Saratoga Springs. He was thrilled to hear this and talked me into going with him. Well, it does NOT compare well to the one in St. George.
We went last Saturday at about 2 in the afternoon. They weren't very busy but there was still a good amount of people there. We found ourselves a seat and were greeted with lots of warm smiles and friendly hellos! It was looking like it was going to be pretty promising! They came and took our drink order right away... after about 10 minutes we received them. Then things went south a little. Our waitress started spending a lot of time socializing with another table... Which would have been fine if she were still doing her job well. Finally a waitor came and took our order. Then our drinks ran out and after we waited awhile we didn't see our waitress so we flagged down another one. At that time we were given peanuts, and informed that our waitress was on break. She brought new drinks as well but left the empty glasses on the table. Then the waiting started... and continued... and went on... and continued!
Finally my mother in Laws order was brought out and she said that the rest of the food would be right out. After 15 minutes of waiting after that the other 3 of us received our food. Keep in mind that I am the pregnant one who ordered a salad, and the other 3 orders were all things that needed to be cooked so it was pretty strange to receive our meal the way that we did. My husband had ordered some Buffalo Chips with his meal, but was told that they would be out shortly. We finished eating, at which time his brother started to feel ill... And the Buffalo Chips still hadn't shown. We waited patiently for awhile, then started to try to flag down someone. At this point I notice that the large group with the screaming baby that came in shortly after we received our food has already started getting served there food!
My husband asks the waitress at this time to get us our check. We wait another twenty minutes and then my husband goes and asks the manager. After we pay the manager tells us that we weren't charged for the pitcher of beer (in his best please come back again voice). When we're walking out my husband looks at the receipt and... We were charged for it. Which let me take a moment to say isn't a problem or concern that we had had in the first place. They drank the beer so he was planning on paying for it but it was annoying that the manager told us we weren't charged for it when we were.
The whole ordeal took OVER 2 and a half hours! The service was horrible! I hope that this is taken into consideration before trying out the place... And I REALLY hope that everyone else has a MUCH better experience than what we had! Best of luck to the Saratoga Springs establishment, but we will not be eating their again. Apparently one just opened in Draper so we're going to check that one out soon! And of course next time we pass through St. George we'll stop in there!
